February 16 — Sat., Feb 16, 7-9p.m. - "Wild Women, Recite!" is back! Following a two-year hiatus, and in response to popular demand, this annual evening of poetry of passion and spirit returns to the River Gallery in Independence. Sharon joins singer-songwriter Claudia Prevost, poets Jana Zvibleman and reader-winegrower Mary Olsen of Airlie Winery for this raucus event. Attendees (both genders welcome!) are invited to bring a favorite poem by a woman poet to share following the featured performances, 184 Main St., 503-838-6171. August 31 — Sun., Aug. 31, 1pm and 3pm. - Bridge Tours. Take an hour and half tour to learn about the Central City bridges. Walk across the Hawthorne Bridge, and north along the Eastbank Esplanade to the Morrison Bridge, to visit the operator’s tower and bascule pit–see gears 36 feet tall and a counterweight that tips 950 tons. Participants sign a release to go inside the Morrison Bridge. Meet at Salmon Street Springs in Tom McCall Waterfront Park. |

September 6 — Sat., Sept. 6, 10am and 1pm. - Portland Aerial Tram Ride/Walk. Learn about the unique Ross Island Bridge and then ride the Streetcar to catch a #8 TriMet bus up to the Veterans Hospital (requires 1-zone bus fare). Walk across the longest (660 feet) air-conditioned pedestrian bridge in the U.S.–connecting the VA to OHSU Hospital South. After viewing the waterfront from the new Kohler Overlook, ride the Portland Aerial Tram downhill to return to South Waterfront, crossing five major highways (a distance of 3,300 feet) in two minutes and fifty seconds. Tour participants meet at the lower tram station in South Waterfront. September 14 — Sun., Sept. 14 - Friends of William Stafford annual "Poetry & Potluck," Foothills Park, Lake Oswego.
